Common Grind is back

By Chris Weaver • Oct 8th, 2008 • Category: Common Grind News

Hey guys.

Finally, after however long it has been, Common Grind is back. My brand shiny new Macbook arrived today, and with the beauty of macs, is on straight out of the box. Meaning, after the installation of various programs (namely Flock, Adium and Thunderbird), I’m back.
Firstly, I want to apologise for the lack of an October podcast. I will be skipping through october, and releasing a november podcast, but I hope to make it a good one! Thanks for being patient, and I hope you understand that I’d have done everything in my power to release it on time, but things were beyond my control. For the guys who don’t know me so well, he’s a little update on why I’ve been gone. Firstly, near the start of October, my and my girlfriend/house mate of 4.5 years split up. Now it was my choice, but it didn’t make it easy, and my thoughts are with her right now, and I hope you guys thoughts can be two. It’s not easy to re-adjust after so long, and I hope, with all my heart she can get on with everything and get back to normal. On top of my leaving Coffee Aroma, my life got turned on its head, and its taken me this long to get back on track, if thats what I am even now. With this split, I also lost half of the rent of my flat, and the use of a computer, and this was the main reason Common Grind went down.

However, a very kind person came along, who wishes to be left unnamed, and reached into his pocket to purchase me this Macbook. Now its not mine per se, but for a good while, it will be. If the person reads this, thank you so much, it’s helped me a lot. So the site is back.

Thanks guys for all your help. Namely Glenn, Jon and Steve. Your support has been incomparable, and I hope I can repay it, in one way or another

Cheers guys, and I say this with a huge smile on my face, and a beer in my hand. Common Grind is back!

  1. good to have you back pal

  2. Really great to have you back with us, mate. Sorry it’s been such a difficult month for you and H.

And it’s always humbling to hear such tales of generosity. Although shame on you for turning down the offer of my vintage, literally-collector’s-item, Powerbook G3 in favour of one of those petite, shiny, macbooks ;-)

Looking forward to catching up on how things have been going in your new job, the november podcast-to-come, and how the new grinder timer’s been holding up (or not ?!) :D

    Jon

  3. The timer is absolutely genius thanks Jon. Getting on realy well with it. Could really do with a grinder that holds less grinds, but there we go. The footswitch is great during a busy service as well!

  4. Thanks for the mention but no need for repayment of any kind. Just knowing you are okay, the new job is going well, you have coffee in the grinder and a roof over your head is enough.

Looking forward to the November podcast and the future collaboration!
